The Week Ahead 9/5/25

Dear WHS Students and Families,

It’s been another busy week at WHS! The Class of 2026 took their class picture today in the gym and were all smiles. Our 9th graders met with their Link Leaders for a check in at the start of the school year, while our sophomores had more discussions about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. Juniors learned about the College Rep visits and how they can access them, while our Seniors had some time for SchooLinks, College Apps and other post secondary work. We are right back at it!

This coming week during PACT, students and PACT teachers will have some down time to connect and further develop their relationships as we all get back into the groove of school.

This coming Thursday, September 11th, we are welcoming a guest speaker, Dennard Mitchell to WHS. Mr. Mitchell is a dynamic presenter who uses unique personal stories, examples from other successful people, and a lot of humor, to help our students feel like they are on the ultimate roller coaster of life with the destination being a success. The goal of this presentation is to help our students raise the opinion they have about themselves and take action towards next-level success. We are excited for our students to hear from this Top Youth Speaker. You can find out more about Dennard Mitchell by heading to his website. I have also included our assembly schedule for your reference.

Senior Parents Virtual Discussion

If your schedule permits, the School Counseling Department invites you to join us for a virtual discussion about the college application process on Friday, Sept. 19, at 9 am. This is a great opportunity to get any last-minute questions answered as we enter your student's application cycle.

The session will be recorded and posted on the College & Career Counseling website for parents who cannot attend. Here is the Google Meet link for the program.

School Pictures

Robert Taylor, our school photographer will be here on September 29 & 30 for school pictures. After students have their pictures taken, families will be able to go to his website: https://www.roberttaylorphotography.com/underclass-fall to choose their package.

Senior Connections Nomination

Weston Youth Services shared some wonderful news this week: the "Senior Connections" group has been nominated for the Youth Leadership Award. This award is a prestigious recognition, given to young people who exemplify outstanding leadership, compassion, and commitment to their community. This nomination speaks volumes about the meaningful impact the members of Senior Connections have made in bridging generations, building relationships, and creating a stronger sense of community in Weston. Their work is being noticed on a broader stage, and this honor reflects the dedication, creativity, and heart they bring to everything they do. Here are a few members calling out the Bingo numbers!
