Working Papers

Working Papers

Students between the ages of 14 (very specific jobs only) and 17 years are eligible for working papers. If you need additional information, inlcuding the type of work allowable by age, here is the link to the Connecticut Working Papers Manual:Guidelines and Procedures for the Employment of Minors in CT

All Students who live in Weston, whether or not they attend WHS, must have a completed Promise of Employment from the employer, and submit a copy of one of the following original documents: birth certificate, current passport or driver’s license. For WHS Students only, Powerschool records are used to verify your birthdate, parent/guardian info and your address.

The Promise of Employment must be on company letterhead and include hourly wage (currently minimum wage is $15.69), the hours per week and a DETAILED list of tasks (no vague descriptions like ‘cleaning’ are permitted).  These are State of Connecticut requirements, employers must comply with the state regulations.

Working papers are issued Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.  We can accept documentation via email.  If you are a WHS Student, you may also stop by the Main Office to drop off your paperwork to Mrs. Zarba for processing.  You may also scan and send all necessary paperwork to Monica Zarba at monicazarba@westonps.orgPlease allow 24-hours from receipt of paperwork for working papers to be completed and picked up during school hours or mailed to you.  You will be contacted if there is an issue with the documentation submitted, or when your working papers are ready for pick up.
