The mission of the Social Studies Department is for students to learn essential concepts, content, and skills so that they might develop a better understanding of themselves and their own culture, other individuals, other cultures of the world, and past events and movements that illuminate and affect the present and future. 

The core program has been carefully constructed to present courses that are sequential in content and skill levels. Students in grade 9 through 12 are expected to complete a minimum of three years (six semesters) of social studies courses for graduation.  In addition, there is a rich elective program. Social Studies Course Sequence
