Attendance Procedures

ATTENDANCE LINE (203) 221-6501

  • If your student will not be attending school, call the attendance line at (203) 221-6501 before 9:00 am, and leave a detailed message: student name, grade, date, and reason for absence. If no reason is left for the absence, it will be marked unexcused.
  • If your student will be arriving late to school, call the attendance line at (203) 221-6501 before 9:00 am and leave a message letting us know the expected arrival time and the reason for the delayed arrival. We will record the absence in PowerSchool. If you don’t call, send your student to school with a note explaining the reason for the late arrival. If there is no note or call explaining the reason for the delayed arrival, the absence will be marked unexcused. Your student must sign into school electronically at the Security desk when they arrive, then go to class.
  • If your student will be leaving school early, send them to school with a note or call the Attendance line at (203) 221-6501. The voicemail message or note should include the student name, date and time of early dismissal, and reason for the early dismissal. Your student must stop by the Main Office to pick up a pass to leave the building at the specified time.
    • If there is no reason given, the absence will not be excused.
    • If they do not have a pass, they will not be permitted to leave the building.
    • If they have open campus, miss class, and leave the building without a note or phone call that morning, explaining why, the absence will be marked unexcused.
  • If your student is not feeling well and wants to go home, they must see the nurse before they can leave the building. Students may not leave the building without being evaluated by the nurse. The nurse will assess the student, communicate with home if necessary, and issue a dismissal pass if needed.
    • If they do not have a pass, they will not be permitted to leave the building.
    • If they have open campus, leave the building without a pass and miss class, the absence will be marked unexcused.
    • Once a student arrives to school, only the nurse or a school administrator may excuse a student from school as ILL.
